Common orthodontic problems we treat

At Pallant Orthodontics, our orthodontists are trained to fix all types of orthodontic problems. Here are some of the most common ones we get results for. You can see some real life examples of these in our before and after gallery.

Crowding

Crowding

Crowding occurs when there is simply not enough space in your mouth for your teeth. As a result, your teeth must fight for this space and often end up overlapping one another. This problem can leave you feeling very self-conscious about smiling and can also pose oral health problems.

Spacing

Spacing

Spacing is the opposite of crowding. This occurs when your teeth don’t take up all the room available in your mouth. As a result, you can be left with unsightly gaps between your teeth. People who have spacing issues are usually very embarrassed about smiling but it is an orthodontic problem that is easily fixed.

Protruding teeth

Protruding teeth

If your front teeth stick out further than they should, this is known as protrusion. They are sometimes known as ‘buck teeth’. Protruding teeth can affect your eating and your speech and are also more prone to damage.

Reverse bite

Reverse bite

If your bottom teeth stick out further than your front teeth, this is known as a reverse bite or an underbite. This type of problem is very important to catch in its early stages, which is why we recommend that children have an orthodontic check up by the age of 11.

Bite problems

Bite problems

We also see a lot of patients with different bite problems. These include:

  • Open bites – your top and bottom teeth don’t meet when you bite
  • Cross bites – some of your bottom teeth sit outside your top teeth
  • Over bites – your front teeth sit over your bottom teeth

Orthodontic treatment, including Invisalign, can fix all of these problems. Simply book a consultation with us and we can assess your teeth to let you know what treatment you’ll require.
