If you’d like to start treatment with fixed braces, but don’t want that traditional ‘train track’ look, you’re in luck! At Pallant Orthodontics, we offer fixed ceramic braces to help you smile all the way through treatment.
What are ceramic braces?
Ceramic braces use clear or tooth-coloured ceramic for the brackets instead of the traditional metal. This helps them blend in with the colour of your smile. Other than that one difference, ceramic braces function in just the same way metal braces do.
How do fixed braces work?
Fixed braces are generally made up of three key components:
- Small brackets that are bonded to the front surface of each tooth
- Thin metal archwires, which connect these brackets together
- We will ask you to take weekly scans of your brace using the Dental Monitoring app so we can monitor when your brace needs an adjustment or wire change, this means you visit the practice every 3-4 months rather than every 6-8 weeks!
At Pallant, however, we don’t even need the elastics to align your smile thanks to the help of Empower braces.
