Invisalign is the near invisible alternative to braces for those looking for a solution to get the straight teeth and smile they have always wanted. It's an innovative system using clear plastic aligners which are made to fit over your teeth, gradually moving them into their desired position. At Pallant Orthodontics, we have been given Diamond Invisalign status in recognition of our experience and expertise using this virtually invisible orthodontic treatment method.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign aligners are made from accurate impressions we take of your teeth using the iTero digital scanner. This state-of-the-art scanner uses 3D computer technology to give us a precise view of your teeth. The technology is also used to simulate tooth movement so the aligners fit your teeth exactly and get the results you want.
Over the course of your treatment with us at our practice in Chichester, you will need to change your aligners every two weeks. Each new set works to progressively move your teeth into their new position. These aligners can be removed for eating, drinking and brushing, making them a hassle-free form of orthodontic treatment.
Who is Invisalign suitable for?
Invisalign for adults:
Invisalign can be used to treat most types of orthodontic problems. Take a look at our before and afters gallery for some examples. Because the aligners used are virtually invisible, they’re a popular treatment option among adults.
Invisalign has three different programmes of treatment suitable for adults:
Invisalign Comprehensive: which is designed to treat the more complex of orthodontic problems. Treatment is extensive and can take anywhere between 12 and 24 months.
Invisalign Lite: many people would like orthodontic treatment to fix a crooked tooth or realign teeth that may have moved, but are put off by the thought of having to wear unsightly braces. This is where Invisalign Lite can be of most benefit. Suitable for minor cases, Invisalign Lite can get results in as little as six months.
Invisalign Express: for even faster treatment, Invisalign Express can achieve results in as little as three months but, as is the case with Invisalign Lite, this programme of treatment is only suitable for minor corrections to the front six teeth.
Invisalign for teens:
Invisalign is also suitable for our younger patients, making them ideal for the self-conscious teenager. The ability to remove the aligners for eating, brushing and flossing also makes them a popular choice among our teen patients. Furthermore, the aligners can be removed for playing sport or musical instruments. However, because they need to be worn 22 hours a day to ensure effective treatment, we can apply a blue dot wear indicator to Invisalign aligners which helps our teen patients keep track of how often they are wearing their aligners.
Invisalign for children:
Oral health advisers around the world recommend children have an early orthodontic consultation, usually between the ages of 7 and 11. Treatment isn’t always required at this stage but sometimes preliminary treatment can help reduce the extent of treatment needed later on. Invisalign First aligners are designed for young, growing teeth and jaws.
